Will Sach is a dynamic bassist whose presence in the UK jazz scene has become increasingly prominent. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music with first-class honours (2019), he studied under master bassist Dave Holland and laid a strong foundation for his career.
Originally from the New York City area, Sach grew up immersed in jazz, bluegrass and old-time music before moving to London for his studies. He has since appeared with some of jazz’s biggest names, including Wynton Marsalis (notably at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2024) and in a trio with pianist Joe Webb that has received widespread acclaim.
Sach’s playing is characterised by a rich tone, thoughtful groove and an unflappable sense of time. His double bass underpins ensembles while also stepping into moments of expressive soloing. He works in a variety of formats, from intimate duos to piano trios and larger projects, and adapts effortlessly to whatever the music requires.
In the studio he has featured on more than ten albums as a sideman, and live he has played at prestigious venues such as Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Blue Note Shanghai and Le Duc des Lombards. As he continues to develop as a musician and collaborator, Will Sach remains one to watch, bringing clarity, depth and musical integrity to every performance.
