Joe Webb

Born in Neath, South Wales, Joe Webb first immersed himself in jazz at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff before relocating to London in 2013 to pursue his professional path. He quickly found his voice in the UK jazz scene, setting himself apart with a style that balances deep respect for jazz tradition and a lively streak of contemporary energy.

Webb is equally comfortable at a grand piano and on Hammond organ, a versatility that has made him a go-to collaborator for celebrated groups such as Kansas Smitty’s House Band and artists like Jamie Cullum. With his own piano trio, he emphasises melody, swing and a sense of storytelling in his improvisation. Reviewers note that his playing carries echoes of stride greats like Fats Waller blended with a punchy Brit-pop attitude.

In 2024 he released the album Hamstrings & Hurricanes on Edition Records, which consolidated his reputation as a fresh and imaginative voice on the jazz piano scene. His music draws on his Welsh roots, a love of 90s guitar bands, and an instinct for melody rooted in jazz history. In live settings he brings charisma and focus, making every performance feel both grounded and adventurous.
