The Banger Factory has been named Jazz Ensemble of the Year at the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. The award was presented at a ceremony held at World Heart Beat in Nine Elms on 14th October.
The award from the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Group recognises ensembles across the UK jazz scene. Since Mark Kavuma founded The Banger Factory in 2015, the collective has focused on ensemble sound and creating opportunities for emerging musicians.
From regular performances at Ronnie Scott’s to festival stages across the country, the band’s mix of hard bop, gospel, Afrobeat, and soul has connected with diverse audiences. The establishment of Banger Factory Records in 2021 expanded this work, providing a platform for new artists developing their own creative voices.
The Parliamentary Jazz Awards, now in their 20th year, recognise the breadth and vibrancy of the UK jazz scene. The Banger Factory was selected from a shortlist that included Ezra Collective, amongst others.
