Eric Appapoulay

Few musicians move so easily between worlds as Eric Appapoulay. A guitarist, bassist, producer and songwriter, he brings soulful energy and refined musicianship to everything he touches. Born in London to Mauritian parents, he grew up surrounded by sega rhythms, reggae grooves and the spirit of improvisation that still shapes his sound today.

Appapoulay has recorded and toured with an impressive list of artists including Plan B, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Neneh Cherry and Craig David. His production work helped define Plan B’s The Defamation of Strickland Banks, one of the most successful British albums of the 2010s, known for its mix of classic soul and sharp storytelling.

Whether in the studio or on stage, his playing is fluid and deeply rooted in feel. He listens first, finding the spaces that let songs breathe, then adds tone and texture with quiet precision. His range of influences runs from George Benson and Jimi Hendrix to Mauritian folk music, all feeding into a sound that feels familiar yet unmistakably his own.

Eric Appapoulay continues to shape modern British music with honesty and grace, uniting the technical mastery of a session veteran with the soul of a true artist.
