A London-based trombonist, composer and bandleader, Boizi has quickly earned recognition for performances of rare intensity, spiritual depth and collective energy.
Drawing on his gospel upbringing, a deep respect for the jazz tradition, and the vibrant creative spirit of London’s contemporary scene, he has developed a distinctive musical voice rooted in faith, improvisation and community.
A graduate of Trinity Laban, Tomorrow’s Warriors alumnus and Peter Whittingham Jazz Award recipient, Boizi has developed an artistic approach that places deep listening, spontaneity and collective expression at its core. His musical journey began with Kinetika Bloco and has been shaped by mentorship from leading figures including Gary Crosby OBE, Byron Wallen and Andy Grappy.
As leader of the Christ-Stéphane Boizi Sextet, he has performed at some of the UK’s most respected venues and festivals, including PizzaExpress Jazz Club, King’s Place, The Jazz Café, the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, We Out Here Festival, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and the EFG London Jazz Festival.
On 2 October 2026, Banger Factory Records will release Boizi’s debut album, As The Spirit Leads. Inspired by family, faith, mentorship and community, the album presents a powerful new compositional voice. Featuring an exceptional ensemble of emerging and established talents, the recording showcases Boizi’s ability to unite musicians around a shared sense of purpose, trust and creativity.
With a sound that is deeply personal yet universally resonant, Christ-Stéphane Boizi represents the next generation of British jazz artists—grounded in tradition, guided by faith, and committed to pushing the music forward.
